In addition, the Project Manager will establish and oversee relationships with external academic collaborators, contract research organizations and suppliers. The Project Manager will also assist in writing grants to federal agencies and private foundations and manage awarded grants. This position is being recruited at the Associate Director/Director level and will report to the CSO/SVP R&D. Specific responsibilities include:
Requirements:
Senior Scientist in Mechanistic Biology (Job Code: S/JJ) The successful candidate will work with the Biology group and lead efforts designed to further our understanding of pepducin mechanisms of action. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and applying in vitro assays to characterize the pharmacological and biophysical properties of lipidated peptides. He/she will lead investigations exploring the interface between lipidated peptides and cellular membranes and integral membrane proteins. The successful candidate, in addition to other research endeavors, will direct a research program investigating the insertion and distribution of lipidated peptides in cellular membranes. As such, he/she should possess strong working knowledge of peptide, lipid and membrane biology. He/she should be an effective, self-motivated, and creative scientist capable of independently executing, analyzing, and troubleshooting experiments. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and critical thinking skills. The successful candidate should function well in a group setting and be an active contributor to both the biology and chemistry groups.
The position requires a strong applied background in biochemical and biophysical techniques typically associated with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics or a similar filed. Experienced MS level scientists will also be considered. Experience working with cellular membranes and membrane proteins is essential. The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of lipid biochemistry and be able to apply this knowledge in the development of lipidated peptide therapeutics. Experience with molecular modeling and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations is preferred. Experience with advance biochemical and biophysical techniques including CD, FTIR, ITC, DSC, HPLC and NMR is desirable.
Associate Scientist in In Vitro Pharmacology (Job Code: AS/YR)
The successful candidate should hold a BS or MS degree in Biology or related science and at least two years experience in a drug discovery setting. The candidate will be responsible for conducting in vitro assays for screening and characterizing compounds, and for analyzing and presenting data as part of a drug development project team. He/she should be an effective and creative scientist capable of independently executing, analyzing, and troubleshooting experiments. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in data analysis software (Excel, GraphPad prism) is required. Post graduate experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based and cell-free GPCR assays (calcium, cAMP, receptor binding), is absolutely required. Experience in robotic liquid handling, FACS analysis, and data management software is strongly preferred.
