Stephen Hunt, Ph.D.
Acting President, Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President, Research and Development 

Dr. Hunt joined Anchor Therapeutics in 2008 with over 15 years of prior drug discovery and development experience at Pfizer.  Most recently, he was Executive Director and Head of RNAi Development at Pfizer’s Research Technology Center. In this position, he led the development of, and helped implement the company’s RNAi strategy to turn the promise of RNAi technology into practical pharmaceutical projects.  Before assuming this role, Dr. Hunt held a series of positions of increasing responsibility within the Parke-Davis and later, Pfizer R&D organizations.  Prior to joining industry, Dr. Hunt was a member of the faculty at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  Dr. Hunt received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and was a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Leroy Hood at the California Institute of Technology.

 

 

Thomas McMurry, Ph.D.
Vice President, Chemistry and IP

Dr. McMurry is a Founder of Anchor Therapeutics and serves as Vice President, Chemistry and Intellectual Property.  He was previously Vice President of Research at EPIX Pharmaceuticals where he gained experience in drug discovery and drove the expansion of the Company’s proprietary technology platform into new areas.  Dr. McMurry joined EPIX in March 1993 as Director, Synthetic Chemistry and held positions of increasing seniority during his 13 year tenure with the Company, including Executive Director of Discovery and Intellectual Property.  From 1987 to 1993, Dr. McMurry was a Fellow at the National Institutes of Health.  Dr. McMurry is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan.  He performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

 

 

Kenneth Carlson, Ph.D.
Vice President, Biology

Dr. Carlson joined Anchor Therapeutics in 2009 and serves as Vice President, Biology.  Dr. Carlson comes to Anchor Therapeutics with over 16 years of drug discovery experience, largely focused on G protein-coupled receptors.  Dr. Carlson was previously Executive Director of Biological Sciences at Palatin Technologies, where he was a member of the Senior Management Team and was responsible for directing in vitro pharmacology and in vivo biology. Prior to that, Dr. Carlson held a series of positions of increasing responsibility as a scientist within the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute.  In addition to chairing drug discovery programs and interfacing with development teams, Dr. Carlson co-chaired a company-wide, multi-disciplinary team focused on G protein-coupled receptor drug discovery.  Dr. Carlson received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania and was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health.
